wegewerk was commissioned to relaunch the website of the German Road Safety Council. As an interest group, the DVR is committed to promoting measures to improve road safety. Founded in 1969, the organisation is largely financed by grants from the Ministry of Transport and financial contributions from the German Social Accident Insurance.

The many target groups addressed by the DVR include, above all, political actors, the press, but also teaching staff and employers who employ people in the context of road traffic. The DVR offers them a wealth of information on road safety issues. However, the DVR does not only provide valuable knowledge online. Visitors can also choose from digital and print publications on a wide range of topics. These can be downloaded from the shop or ordered free of charge. To make these even easier to access, we have simplified the site's shop function and added a shopping basket.

TYPO3 relaunch for improved user guidance

For the relaunch, the structure and user guidance was a key factor that we rethought. In a joint structuring workshop, we worked out the DVR's core topics and wishes for the new website. This served as our basis for restructuring the menu and adding further filter functions.

Using the corporate design and logo supplied by the DVR, we conceptualised and created a new web design. The new concept now enables clear and modern user guidance. The new layout of images and the use of sliders contribute to this. In addition, the Solr search function guides visitors quickly to their destination.

Database connections and accessibility

In addition to implementing the shop, we have added a new newsletter interface and linked it to the Rapidmail programme.

We always consider the issue of accessibility in our websites. This was also a major concern for the DVR. We have implemented the site in accordance with our high standards to make it barrier-free and completely fulfil the requirements for the site. A lot has changed for the German Road Safety Council with the website relaunch. Their online presence now boasts a modern design, optimised user guidance and an intuitive shop function.
