The Road Safety Pact is a joint initiative of the federal government, state governments, local authorities and other road safety stakeholders, supported by the German Road Safety Council (DVR). The alliance brings together existing projects from all local authorities and federal states and presents them on its new website. Like the DVR, its goal is Vision Zero – for a future without road deaths.

The Road Safety Pact distinguishes between twelve thematic areas of action in which projects on mobility and prevention are being implemented nationwide. These are presented and accompanied on the new website. An interactive map provides an overview. The website informs the general public, associations and local authorities about ongoing best practice projects and encourages them to develop further showcase projects.

New page as subpage

We implemented the Road Safety Pact website technically as a domain node within the DVR's TYPO3 instance. This means that it runs as a subpage in the URL path. This is particularly advantageous from an SEO perspective. This is because the content under the established and trustworthy DVR domain benefits from the domain authority and tends to be ranked higher by search engines.  However, the functionality and design of the site differ significantly from the DVR main site: we have designed a unique look for the pact with individually developed features, colours and illustrations.

Establishing contact as a key element

We have integrated and made available three different contact forms for the website. These enable users to get in touch to present a project, be included in the event calendar or announce funding measures. As a website that is kept alive by active participants and projects, the various contact options are highly relevant. The site thus provides impetus for many future projects that will improve road safety for us all.
