The DGB Youth is committed to the interests of young people with regard to training, internships and jobs. It is the umbrella organisation of eight trade unions, such as ver.di Jugend and IG Metall Jugend. The Wähl Doch campaign is designed by wegewerk so that it can also be used by the DGB districts and member unions.

Why don't you cry? Why don't you vote?

The campaign was originally planned for the period up to the general election in September 2025. Due to the new elections in February, the campaign was flexibly adapted and finalised in a short space of time.

The claim picks up on a phrase often used by the target group and is activating - you can do something yourself to make things better for yourself! Thanks to the customisability of the claim, the campaign remains relevant even after the general election. For example, ‘Wähl doch’ becomes ‘Mach doch’ and ‘Kämpf doch’.

The cancellation of the word ‘Heul’ became the central design element of the campaign. For example, the claim is preceded by a question or a sentence is added. As the campaign is primarily digital, the campaign colours are bright and gaudy. They stand out from the regular trade union content and attract attention.

Despite the large digital focus, the campaign was not only visible on social media. Campaign materials such as scarves, cloth bags, beer mats, balloons and pens were distributed in the districts to spread the campaign's message among activists and give them something to take with them when talking about the election and the demands of DGB Youth. The campaign was also visibly represented at strikes: Banners and demo signs as well as scarves were used to show: I actively stand up for democracy and parties that represent its values.

The campaign shows solidarity with young people and talks about issues that are relevant to them, such as affordable housing, prospects for training and the minimum wage. An ‘election check’ was published for the Bundestag elections, which compares the most important topics of the trade union youth with the election programmes of the parties. This shows: Who really stands up for the issues that are important to me?
