How do you bring together the diverse needs of a nationwide union on a single platform? With a flexible design system, a well-thought-out information architecture, and digital services that support both members and the editorial team alike.
A platform for a wide range of needs
With the relaunch of the Nahrung-Genuss-Gaststätten (NGG) union’s website, we developed a central multi-domain platform that unites the national federation, eight state districts, and numerous regional sites within a single TYPO3 system. The goal was to further develop the website—which had grown over the years—in terms of both design and structure, while simultaneously meeting the union’s diverse requirements. In joint workshops, we analyzed the existing platform and used that analysis to develop the new information architecture, wireframes, and design concept. The result is a flexible, modular system that allows individual union units to independently maintain and customize their content within a consistent digital presence.
A design that provides guidance.
Building on the existing corporate design, we developed a contemporary visual identity for the website. Larger images, a clearer page structure, and new content modules improve user navigation and create a more dynamic experience. At the same time, the modular structure allows state districts and regions to flexibly organize their content and present it in different ways without straying from the shared brand identity.
Members' area securely integrated.
Through a linked internal portal, members can access personal information such as payment receipts, membership dues, and other relevant documents. They can submit changes to their personal information or employment status directly via digital forms. To meet the highest data protection standards, this data is not stored in the TYPO3 system but is transferred directly to the NGG’s linked specialized systems, where it is processed. Using the same principle, we also developed multilingual online forms that communicate directly with existing databases, thereby enabling secure, seamless processes.
Customized solutions for day-to-day union operations.
In addition, we developed features that make the platform easier to use on a daily basis. A custom-built location search function displays the appropriate branch office based on the user’s work location and helps users quickly find the right point of contact. Furthermore, we integrated the CRM system, incorporated selected social media content in compliance with data protection regulations, and created flexible modules for events and topic-specific landing pages. The result is a powerful and future-proof platform that combines modern design, intuitive user guidance, and tailored digital services in a single system.
