Described on the Nightly News as the "YouTube of the German amateur football universe," amateur soccer players and sports journalists came together to launch Hard Pitch Heros late in 2006. The site launched with a "Hard Pitch Hero Contest" judged by a distinguished jury and has since expanded into a thriving community where amateur footballers and their fans publish their own videos, photos and records.
The community encourages new members to create profiles and upload videos, which are automatically converted to a uniform format. The videos can be publicly reviewed, discussed and "Passed" to other members.
A special reason to use wwEdit ™ CMS was its scalability to support major content partnerships (including stern.de, sueddeutsche.de, kicker.de, google.de). Because these partners regularly drive huge spikes of traffic to particular videos, the system was planned from the outset to scale for peak loads.
