Misereor works to empower people to assert their right to a life of dignity, freedom and good health. Today Misereor is grappling with “BaySanto” – the imminent takeover of seeds and pesticide producer Monsanto by agrochemicals company Bayer. The concentrated market power of these two agro business giants threatens the environment as well as the livelihood of countless smallholders in the global south.

wegewerk joined forces with Misereor on the occasion of the BaySanto merger to develop a fast and effective package of measures – drawing the public’s attention to the problem and mobilizing supporters for a coordinated protest.

The TYPO3-based landing page prominently presents three campaign ads - featuring the claim “Saat für Vielfalt” (= “Seeds for Diversity”) – that inform and motivate supporters to act.

Infographics, designed by wegewerk, vividly introduce “food sovereignty“, the campaigns core value.

An interactive map of Germany full of seeds and seedlings visualizes the campaign’s support and invites the public to take part: Users place a digital seed on the map to show their support for the issue. Within nine days, a tiny plant will grow from each seed!

Users also can choose to send any of the three campaign motifs to motivate their friends through an easy-to-use e-card tool.

In addition to the landing page, wegewerk designed campaign materials such as banners, t-shirts and giant air balloons that were used during a protest rally at Bayer’s shareholders meeting – drawing lots of attention. More protests linked to the campaign are scheduled for the German protestant and catholic churches’ annual gatherings this summer.

A handy printed collection of the campaign’s key facts, infographics and arguments rounded out our quick reaction kit for Misereor.
